About Duchy – A Leading Cornwall Hockey Club

Founded in 2009, Duchy Hockey Club was established to bring the sport of hockey back to the Camborne, Pool, and Redruth area. What began with a single men’s team has grown into one of Cornwall’s premier hockey clubs. Today, Duchy HC proudly fields six senior league teams, a fully-fledged junior system, and active masters and mixed teams, making us one of the most inclusive and comprehensive hockey clubs in Cornwall.

Based at Pool Academy in Redruth, our club provides a strong development pathway with integrated training for juniors, beginners, and experienced players alike. This structure supports hockey in Cornwall for all ages and abilities, encouraging players to grow within a friendly, family-oriented community.

Over the past 15 years, we’ve expanded to include over 150 senior members across three men’s and three women’s teams, with a vibrant and fast-growing junior section. As one of the key hockey teams in Cornwall, our club is deeply embedded in the local community, committed to both competition and inclusivity.

Duchy Hockey Club also hosts the annual Cornwall Summer Sevens—a widely celebrated tournament running from May through August, attracting players from across the region.

In line with our community ethos, we offer weekly walking hockey sessions, ideal for those returning to the sport or trying it for the first time. We believe hockey should be accessible to everyone, which is why we keep membership and playing costs as low as possible.

Whether you’re an experienced player or completely new to the sport, Duchy HC welcomes you to join one of Cornwall’s most social and competitive hockey environments. As a Cornwall hockey club built on friendship, teamwork, and passion for the game, we’re proud to represent Redruth and the wider Cornish hockey community.
